Jack Nuts have slots that expand into a large, 4-legged “flower” footprint on the backside, making them perfect for fragile or ultra-thin materials (like plastic, fiberglass, or drywall). Rivet Nuts bulge into a solid collar, requiring stronger, thicker substrates (like structural sheet metal) to hold securely.
Plus nuts are long, heavy-duty inserts made for thick metals and rigid fiberglass that need high torque. Jack nuts are shorter, collapse much more easily, and are designed for ultra-thin, delicate plastics or fragile materials that can’t handle high pressure.
They share the same collapsible expansion mechanism. However, a Molly nut is a compact, standalone threaded insert without a built-in bolt, making it much smaller. A Molly bolt is a longer, full-assembly wall anchor that comes pre-packed with its own long screw and wide head.
